Hello, and welcome to the Adventure Tours Scotland Blog page! I’m Colin, founder of Adventure Tours Scotland, and this is the space where I’ll be writing, alongside some of my fellow guides, about one of my favourite topics in the world: adventuring in Scotland.

This is the perfect place to plan your own private tour of Scotland. We’ll be doing deep dives on different topics every month – from photo opportunities in Glencoe, to great sheltered canoeing spots for beginners near the cities, to the best inns and pubs we’ve found off the beaten track throughout the country. Food spots, hiking routes, advice for the islands, advice for the cities; we’ve covered this country over many decades, and are really excited to share our favourite finds through our tours of course, but also through our blogs.

Planning the Scottish adventure tour of a lifetime is not easy on your own, especially from abroad! There are very good reasons to want to seek out a bit of local knowledge, and since we have that in spades here at Adventure Tours Scotland, we thought that some of that expertise would make for a great, helpful blog. And, of course, if you’re ready to take that to the next level, you should get in touch and let us curate your own private tour itinerary, and take you around the country ourselves.

I’ve personally had a lifelong passion for adventure and the outdoors. I grew up camping, fishing and hiking all over the country, and in addition to running Adventure Tours Scotland today, I’m also an expedition leader and assessor for the Duke of Edinburgh award, a life-changing programme for building life skills in young people.

Being able to take people around this richly beautiful country and show them the best it has to offer, is a dream job. Scotland has everything, and it would take many lifetimes to scratch the surface of her charms. I’ve spent my lifetime doing just that, as have my fellow guides, and it’s always a privilege to give you a glimpse of it, in-person or on here.
