Bespoke tour activity options

Whether you choose a short leisurely hike, a challenging trail ride, or an open water paddle, you can be assured that we’ll go above and beyond to deliver an experience of a lifetime.

We’ve created this helpful guide that splits our bespoke tour activities into three categories - leisurely, moderate and challenging.

Choose your Scotland tour activity level!

Activity Level 1 - Leisurely

Biking: 1 - 3 hours.

Easy rides on stunning forest trails and quiet country roads that can be enjoyed by everyone. No routes are entirely flat, so expect some short hill climbs and easy descents. E-bikes are available for those wishing to take it easy.

Hiking: 1 - 3 hours.

Gentle off-road hiking on well-maintained hill tracks and forest trails. No previous hiking experience is required - just a pair of comfy walking boots and a love of the great outdoors.

Canoeing: 1 - 3 hours.

Paddling in sheltered bays and canals in superb locations, suitable for people with no previous canoeing experience. Instruction and skills development will be delivered throughout the duration of your journey. In breezy conditions, a degree of fitness will be required. Small waves may be encountered.

Activity Level 2 - Moderate

Biking: 2 - 4 hours.

The perfect challenge for occasional off-road riders who are in good health and are reasonably fit. Moderate off-road trails and paths may be muddy and uneven. There may be some steep ascents and descents. Some technical off-road riding experience would be beneficial.

Hiking: 2 - 4 hours.

If you own a pair of well-worn hiking boots and love small hills with big views, this is the perfect Scottish hiking experience for you. You would need to have a reasonable level of fitness and the ability to ascend a 1000ft / 300m hill on good quality trails. Occasional slippery and uneven surfaces.

Canoeing: 2 - 4 hours.

The ideal adventure for the occasional canoeists with some basic paddling skills. Journeying across a loch in varied conditions will require a reasonable level of fitness and the ability to deal with small waves and stronger winds. You will have plenty of time to hone your paddling skills, with occasional shore breaks to stretch your legs and refuel.

Activity Level 3 - Challenging

Biking: 4 - 6 hours.

Confidence on a bike in varied trail conditions and a good level of fitness is essential. Previous off-road riding experience is a must as some technical riding will be required. You will take on rocky land-rover tracks, fun single-track trails, drop-offs and some steep ascents and descents.

Hiking: 4 - 6 hours.

A good level of fitness will be required to take on some challenging accents and descents on rough, boggy and uneven ground. Conditions permitting, you may summit a stunning 3000ft / 900m a peak with the possibility of tackling an exciting grade 1 scramble or boulder field along the way.

Canoeing: 4 - 6 hours.

You will have a paddle in your hands for several hours so a good level of fitness and open water canoeing experience is a prerequisite. You can expect to be paddling in changing conditions and in stronger winds with limited shelter and fewer shore breaks. Nutritious snacks and drinks to refuel and hydrate will be available throughout your journey.
